Our National Parks Goal

Kenon and I set a goal for ourselves: To visit all the National Parks in the contiguous 48 states before I turn 30. That’s 47 national parks to scratch off our map before January, 2022. Seriously, though, we have the scratch off map.

We already have all of the National Parks in Utah, along with Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Grand Teton, Great Basin and Grand Canyon National Park. To top that off, we have a lot of trips planned this year to check off as many as possible.

Grand Teton National Park

We have these trips planned so far:

Southwest, April 2018
Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona
Saguaro National Park, Arizona
Big Bend National Park, Texas
Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas
Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico

Midwest, June 2018
Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota
Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota
Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota
Isle Royals National Park, Michigan

California, July 2018
Yosemite National Park, California
King’s Canyon National Park, California
Death Valley National Park, California

Our biggest challenge is going to be hitting the East Coast and Florida. It is far from home and, so far, proving to be expensive. Any suggestions on how to make the eastern half of the United States cheaper, let us know! Also, leave a comment with must-do sights in ANY of the National Parks!

Zion National Park

Kenon and I will be posting about all of these parks as we experience them. Follow this blog to get hiking trail information, campground insights, sight-seeing lists, and tips. As we visit each park, we’ll be participating in a lot of the recreation around the parks as well. We also have other non-park related trips planned to keep things fresh. This next year is going to packed full of exciting United States adventures!

Bryce Canyon National Park

What is your favorite national park?

Thanks for traveling with us!

  1. That’s a great goal! I love visiting the NP’s and hope to see all 60 some day, although Volcano NP might be a while now! I live on the east coast so I have the opposite problem of you guys but I recommend visiting on non-peak times to get the most out of it and obviously combining parks when able. I also recommend spending a few days at Acadia when you get there. It’s absolutely gorgeous and a hikers paradise! It’s hard to chose a favorite since they’re all so different, but my top so far would be Acadia, Badlands, Great Smoky, Crater Lake, Death Valley, and Yosemite. Pinnacles was a nice surprise as well! Enjoy the journey!
